Comprehensive Basics Car Insurance protects your car from damage caused by collisions, fire, theft, and adverse weather conditions. Additionally, it covers any damage your car may cause to other people’s vehicles and property. As an entry-level option, this policy does not include optional extras.

Comprehensive Plus

Comprehensive Plus is the top-tier insurance policy CGU offers. Providing coverage for a range of events, including damage from fire, theft, weather and collisions. It also covers any damage your car may cause to other people’s vehicles and property.

Third Party Property Damage

Third Party Property Damage Insurance covers the cost of damage you cause to other people's vehicles or property in an accident.

Additionally, if an uninsured driver damages your car, you're covered up to $5,000.

Third Party Fire and Theft

Third Party Fire and Theft Insurance helps cover costs if your car is stolen, catches fire, or is damaged by an uninsured driver. It also provides coverage for damage you cause to other people's vehicles and property in an accident.

  • Yes – as long as they meet CGU's standard acceptance criteria. CGU generally covers standard-spec EV, hybrid and PHEV vehicles. You can check the PDS for all the details of what is and isn’t covered to make sure you’re choosing the right cover for your circumstances.

For policies purchased on and after 27 May 2025 and policies renewed on and after 9 August 2025, you can make certain updates online, such as adjusting your excess amounts or optional benefits.
