Kerang South Primary School
Our TIP funding will enable us to run a two-days for students to participate in dance and gamelan workshops, culminating in a whole school performance, in traditional costume, for the community.
Kerang has had a tough few years. First COVID-19 and then major flooding in late 2022 where the town was under an evacuation order, and roads to and from the school were closed for most of Term 4.
Increasing community connectedness is a major focus for our school in 2023 and whole school, hands-on, cultural experiences like this are the events our students remember long after they leave schools.
Cultural workshops also help lift the profile of teaching a language in a school - especially when there are limited opportunities to practice the language in the general community.
After the two day workshop, the whole community will be invited to attend our concert. A great way to bring our community together.
