Hampden Specialist School
Hampden Specialist School is collaborating with Nurture in Nature Australia on a project that combines literacy, music, nature play and making books accessible for all children.
Nurture in Nature Australia is working towards the publication of a children's picture book called 'Nature Ninja Saves the Natural World'.
Throughout the process, accessibility and inclusion are being built into the book.
As well as a printed book, it will also be created as:
An audiobook with visual descriptions of pictures.
A videobook with captions and AUSLAN for children with vision and hearing impairments.
The children will contribute to the project by actively participating in the creation and production of a song to complement the book - both the accessible and non-accessible versions.
The song and a video on how it was created with the Hampden SS students will be part of the official book launch of Nature Ninja Saves the Natural World.
It's a great opportunity for students at this small regional school to be part of an exciting initiative.
