Endeavour Hills Specialist School
We hope the impact of this program will be huge!
Our school opened in January 2022 and caters for students with one or more of three disability types:
Intellectual impairment
Autism spectrum disorder
Severe language disorder
We will purchase fruit trees to establish an orchard of apples, mandarins and peaches and have plans for 80 vegetable seedling punnets.
The aim is simple. To upskill our students with as many practical garden, environment, kitchen, cooking and social skills as possible through this program.
Students will gain valuable sustainability knowledge through the program, as well as develop skills including:
Working together successfully
Caring for ourselves and our environment
Looking after living things
Harvesting and using food we have grown
Cooking skills such as cutting, dicing, frying, stirring.
And of course ... eating!
The program will promote the value of caring for themselves and their environment and will help students gain a better understanding of why our world needs food, how it grows, which plants are important, which plants are not important and why it's important to be aware of how much food is wasted in society.
