Tanjil South Primary School
Tanjil South Primary School will create a Musical Garden within the school grounds, providing a space where students can explore sound, rhythm, and cultural expression. The garden will incorporate sustainable materials and traditional Indigenous musical elements, fostering creativity while deepening understanding of Aboriginal culture.
The Musical Garden will enhance the music and humanities curriculum by offering a hands-on, outdoor learning environment. Students will explore rhythm, pitch, and melody while learning about the cultural significance of musical instruments, especially those related to local Indigenous traditions.
The garden will feature instruments inspired by traditional Aboriginal music, including clap sticks, rain sticks, and ground drums. The design will be developed in consultation with local Indigenous elders to ensure cultural appropriateness and authenticity. Through hands-on activities, students will learn about the significance of these instruments and their role in storytelling and ceremony.
